Enabling Task Manager: How to Enable Task Manager Disabled by Virus

Virus often disables Task Manager on Windows XP, or certain programs/applications also make it disabled for various reasons. There are many methods to re-enable Task Manger of Windows XP, and these are two of them.
  • Simple method: Click Start - Run and copy-paste "REG add HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System /v DisableTaskMgr /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f" without " and press ENTER. Task Manager will be enabled quickly.
  • To understand above process, click Start - Run and type regedit, and then go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies\ System. On the right panel, find a value named DisableTaskMgr and delete. it. After closing regedit windows, Task Manager is re-enabled again.
If a virus disables Task Manager, usually it also disturbs other operations in Windows XP. So better to check it thoroughly.
